Daryl Staveness, Ph.D.
Founder/CEO
Daryl founded ExciPlex, Inc. in 2020, inspired by the desire to use his scientific background to develop molecular-level innovations with real-world impact. Daryl earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009 then a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Stanford University in 2015. From 2015-2020, he focused on translational applications of synthetic photochemistry as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Michigan, where he was an American Cancer Society fellow (supported by the Michigan Cancer Research Fund). Daryl was selected for the 2024 Activate Fellowship Cohort, joining an exceptional group of scientists and engineers building businesses from transformative innovations!
Charles “Chuck” Cauchy
Co-Founder and Strategic Advisor
Chuck joined ExciPlex looking to bring his company-building experience to the agtech community. Chuck has degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Physics, which provided the foundation for his entrepreneurial endeavors. He founded his first company, Tellurex, turning a garage-based company into a global leader in thermoelectric materials and devices. He then founded Promethient, inventing graphene-based materials for thermal regulation in the auto industry and beyond. Chuck successfully exited both companies. Having produced and sold millions of units in his tenure, he is exceptionally adept at translating core inventions and ideas into innovative products!
